Description
Elegant Lady copyright 2010 by Joni M. McPherson
This was taken from a photo of my mom as a young teenager. As a young child of 9, she was rollerskating and saw a big appliance box in a driveway and her friend climbed in it and when the truck driver was leaving he thought the box was empty and drove over it. Her friend was able to escape before the truck rolled over the box but mom couldn't and was pronounced dead. A little while later someone detected a pulse and she was taken to the hospital and died again three times on the operating table. She ended up with a steel rod in her left leg, and wires and pins in her left wrist. She had internal injuries and was told she probably would never be able to have children when she grew up. She wasn't able to bend her left leg or or left wrist. She spent 2 1/2 years in the hospital. She was a fighter and did everything any other child would do from ice skating to swimming. She go married and had my sister at 18 and me at 19 and 3 more children after that. She passed away at a young age of 44 but was a trouper right to the end. My dad called her Spit Fire. I don't look like my mom except her smile and dimples but I remember her having a heart of Gold and was a caring mom and she is missed so very much.
